Education and Culture Attache

The Dutch Embassy in London is seeking an experienced arts and education professional to join the Public Diplomacy, Press and Culture Department to provide maternity cover for the Attache Education and Culture. This will initially be a 5 months contract, starting mid April 2010.

Ideally we are looking for someone with knowledge of British education and arts policies and experience in arts management, particularly in the area of design, visual arts and literature. Working as part of small dynamic team, the candidate primarily promotes Dutch arts and language in the UK, and manages a wide range of activities:

  • sustain relationships with relevant government and funding bodies, artists, arts professionals and cultural organisations in the UK and the Netherlands,
  • provide information/advice to Dutch arts organisations and professionals about opportunities to collaboration in the UK,
  • identify and evaluate funding requests,
  • organise events and talks related to and in collaboration with London Design Festival,
  • collaborate with the Dutch Foundation for Literature promoting the Go Dutch book tour in London and literary festivals around UK,
  • sustain relationships with educational organisations and Dutch schools in the UK,
  • liaise with the Dutch Department for Culture, Education and Sports about education policies and issues in the UK and Netherlands and write reports,
  • respond to requests for information,
  • maintain the contact database for education,
  • update website content on education and arts,
  • coordinate activities of part-time junior officer with the Cultural Attache.

We are looking for an energetic person, with good networking, communication and organisational skills. You have experience of working in a team, the ability to work to tight deadlines and a proven interest of international relations. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a bonus, but not a requirement.

  • Part time: 4 days (Monday - Thursday)
  • Salary: GBP 3.141,- and 3.350,- gross/monthly (based on a 38 hours full time week)
